Tynemouth Aquarium!

Tynemouth Aquarium!

Back in January, I took a wonderful trip to Tynemouth Aquarium, which I was invited to go by one of the Teachers I have my placement with, so off we went with a coach load of pupils!

(Clarification, NO Pictures of my Pupils' faces appear here!)

First off when we arrived, we walked through past a few tanks and some rock pool style tanks.

Tortoises.

Mr Starfish!

The pupils had been set a task to find and draw the most colourful fish they find and draw ones that had fancy patterns on their scales for their art project.

I walked back with some of my pupils to the Piranha tank and was immediately freaked out when the piranhas all stopped swimming and were looking at me.....

Piranhas.

A Plec.

Sign about the Piranhas.

Unfortunately my camera didn't get a clear shot of what the sin above all said...
But it was fun learning about all the different types of fish.

Eel!

At this point, walking past the massive Eel, my pupils found it funny as I quickly took the photo then ran off past! (I don't do eels!)

Degus!

I was surprised when I saw that they had Degus, I think they are just so adorable.

Degu or Degus originate from Central Chile, they tend to live in burrows and like to live in communities.

Ray!

In the Aquarium tunnel I had a bit of a stalker that happened to be a stingray!

After having an hour walking around in the aquarium, we got to go up to a special room where they tell you all about Rock pooling.  We got to touch a crab and a starfish, which was strange as neither felt like I thought they would.

While up in the room, I decided to have a peek out the window along to the Beach!

Tynemouth.

Also, within the aquarium, they have a couple of Otters, who were nice enough to say hello!

We were also lucky enough to see the Sea lions showing off their tricks and learning about their diet and their habitat.

After a quick lunch, which was lovely! I had another quick look along at the Tunnel, which i managed to capture a quick photo of the Puffer Fish!

Puffer Fish!

All in all it was a fab day with my pupils and yet very educational, not just for them but me also!

Thanks for Reading!
