May 11th: 1981, Bob Marley, the reggae singer, died of brain & lung cancer at the age of 36.
 
May 12th: 1820, Birth of Florence Nightingale. Born in Florence, Italy. She was a nurse during the Crimean War.
 
May 13th: 1607, English colonists that were led by John Smith, landed near James River in Virginia, USA.
 
May 14th: 1643, Louis XIV (14th) became King of France at the age of 4.

May 16th: 1920, Joan of Arc (Jeanne D'arc) was canonized as a saint.
