Age poet and artist William Blake aged 24 married Catherine Boucher, who was 5
years his junior, in St. Mary's Church, Battersea, London.

19th: 1561, Mary
Queen of Scots arrived in Leith, Scotland to assume throne after spending 13
years in France.

20th: 1836,
English novelist, best known for Vanity Fair, William Makepeace Thackeray at
the age of 25 married Isabella Gethin Shawe aged 20.

21st: 1940, Death of Leon Trotsky, a Russian
revolutionary who was icepicked by Ramón Mercader at age 62.

22nd: 1485,
Battle of Bosworth Field, Henry Tudor's forces defeated English King Richard
III during the last battle in the Wars of the Roses. King Richard III was
killed in Battle.
August
23rd: 1305, William
Wallace, Scottish patriot, was executed for high treason by Edward I of
England. He was hanged, disembowelled and beheaded at Smithfield in London.
